About me

My name is Michelle Lindhardt and I am a licenced clinical psychologist specialized in Metacognitive Therapy (MCT).

I hold a M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology (Cum Laude) from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. I have lived abroad for many years, worked with people from all over the world, and feel most at home in international environments. I genuinely love meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds, something that comes through in both my clinical work and my teaching. After moving back to Denmark, I obtained my license as a clinical psychologist. In the past years, I have worked in private practice, offering metacognitive therapy to adults and older teens.

My professional journey

I first came across Metacognitive Therapy during an internship in my Master's program. Seeing it in action, learning more about the research behind it, and experiencing how meaningful it was in practice — something just clicked. Since then I have spent many years diving deep into the metacognitive approach and developing my expertise in this area.

I have completed the highest level of training in Metacognitive Therapy (Level 1 + Level 2) at the MCT-Institute®, founded by Professor Adrian Wells, and I serve on the board of MCT-Institute® Denmark. Alongside my clinical work, I teach psychology at a large international study abroad organization in Copenhagen, where I work as an external lecturer.

What I find most meaningful about working with MCT is the way it can help people develop a more relaxed relationship with their thoughts and achieve greater mental flexibility and quality of life. I find it deeply rewarding to see the difference it can make across such a wide range of difficulties.

I am driven by curiosity and a love of learning. I always stay up to date with the latest research and regularly take courses to sharpen my skills. I am passionate about my work and about sharing my knowledge of MCT, because I have seen firsthand what a difference it can make.

Speaking of Mental Health

I also host a podcast called Speaking of Mental Health, where I sit down with other mental health professionals to discuss topics across the field. One episode is dedicated to Metacognitive Therapy.
